PAT2014 Mission Statement
'PAT2014 strives to learn and share the impact and value of food and education on children's wellbeing across the globe. Through the partnership of research and fundraising PAT2014’s volunteers give their time, cultural experience, knowledge and skills to help influence the lives of one of the most valuable assets within our communities, our children’

PAT 2014 has support from a variety of organisations across the UK including regional government departments in Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and Wales, voluntary and commercial sectors.
PAT2014 is a joint research and charity fundraising venture between www.MarysMeals.org and the University of Hull. Some of the UKs foremost school food and health experts have come together as a steering group to support the project over the next three years. PAT 2014 has support from a variety of organisations across the UK including regional government departments in Scotland, England, Northern Ireland and Wales, voluntary and commercial sectors. The research will consider the provision and impact of school feeding in six commonwealth countries, including India and Malawi where Mary’s Meals projects are already established.

The research aims

  • To explore children’s beliefs and experiences about food and health in their school communities (Health and food to link in with commonwealth countries)
  • To discover what are the conditions impacting on the feeding of children through their school communities
  • To discover what children feel their school communities do well in terms of supporting their health
  • To discover what children feel their school communities could do better in the future to support their health and wellbeing

It is also an aim for the project to raise funds and awareness of ‘Marys Meals’ through a social media change campaign.

The LOGO you see on this page was designed by Nyle Backhouse (9), from Little Ealing Primary School in London. Nyle came up with the winning logo design which will be used on all communication and marketing materials to promote the research project across the world until its completion in 2014
Through a social media campaign, candidates will be invited to apply to be one of 20 ‘PAT2014 Champions’ selected to conduct research in six commonwealth countries.

The non-profit PAT project is still in its early planning stages and will shortly launch its website.
